Recovery from Medications

Treatment for Recovery from Medication Withdrawal

LENS Neurofeedback is a micro electromagnetic field that shows the brain how to reset itself for optimal performance. Clients typically report feeling relaxed and calm with heightened mental clarity and steady emotional resilience. LENS Neurofeedback is not a specific treatment for any one condition, but a general regulation of the central nervous system. New balance in the brain often results in better sleep, focus and moods that together reduces or eliminates symptoms of addiction and withdrawal from medications.

Preparation for LENS Treatment

Changing dosages suddenly makes it hard to separate what changes in symptoms are from the neurofeedback, and what are from withdrawals. You can meet with our in-house psychiatrist or we will consult with you and your doctor about the right pace to reduce medications as neurofeedback rebalances symptoms.

Do not abruptly change your medications without medical supervision! Withdrawal symptoms may set in later and be much harder to clear.

LENS aided Benzodiazepine Withdrawal

Valium, lorazepam (Ativan), alprazolam (Xanax), and clonazepam (Klonopin)are popular benzos that often cause symptoms when people stop taking them. Unfortunately, for some people benzodiazepines eventually stop working and actually produce more anxiety. Withdrawals can be difficult and take months, but many people feel the resulting clarity is worth the trouble. If you are happy with your mental state on your dosage of benzodiazepines, you are not a good candidate for neurofeedback because the benefits of your session will be wiped out by the meds. If you can’t find a dosage that works or want off, LENS can help you.
